The Parents Of Premature Babies Should Watch For The Symptoms Of Toxic Infant Formula
The parents of premature infants need to spread the word about toxic infant formula lawsuits because hospitals and doctors keep their mouths shut
Tuesday, November 16, 2021 - It is critical that people who read stories on the internet warning of the dangers of giving premature babies Enfamil, Similac, and other cow's milk formulas tell other mothers about what they have discovered. New mothers may be shocked to learn that their babies may have been poisoned and could have developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). According to formula.injurywatch.com, a study published in Science Daily on May 1, 2011, told readers "Formula-fed preemies are at higher risk for dangerous GI condition than babies who get donor milk." Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a deadly disease that affects the intestine of prematurely born babies. The delicate, intestinal walls of a prematurely born infant may become ulcerated from the baby formula allowing bacteria to enter and cause infection at the site and further eat away the intestinal wall allowing fecal matter to invade the abdominal cavity. When this happens the baby may vomit its own feces. Babies with NEC have developed infections that overwhelmed their bodies and caused death. Parents of premature babies that have been fed Enfamil and Similac and developed NEC have hired NEC formula lawyers seeking lump-sum monetary compensation.
Doctors, nurses, and parents that are feeding premature infants should watch carefully for the earlies sign the child is not tolerating their infant formula. Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA)writes that babies that are having difficulty digesting their infant formula will vomit green bile, a distended stomach, and bloody stools from infection. "The infant may also have bloody stools because of the infection of the bowel wall. If the infection is not recognized early, then the child may develop a low respiratory rate or periodic breathing (apnea) and a low heart rate that may necessitate the insertion of a breathing tube. Other findings may include a red and tender abdomen, diarrhea, lethargy (listlessness) and shock (decreased blood pressure)," according to CHLA.
Attorneys that represent the families of infants that have been seriously injured or died as a result of being fed NEC baby formula are angry that the companies that manufacture the product continue to deny responsibility and refuse to update their product's warning label. Most plaintiffs that have filed lawsuits have said that if they had been warned about the dangers of toxic infant formula like Enfamil or Similac, they would have chosen another way to feed their premature baby. The companies have given parents, doctors, and hospitals false and misleading information regarding feeding premature babies infant formula. New mothers are at their most vulnerable and need to be able to trust professionals whose job is to watch over the health of their premature infant. Mothers are terrified that their choice of infant formula could be harming their babies. Mothers are outraged when they are told that complaints about toxic infant formulas being responsible for causing NEC have been made for years and that the companies have chosen to ignore them. Parents filing lawsuits may be the only way to get their attention and force them to pay millions in punitive damages."
